1. Developing & Implementing GIS Projects within your Organization

What do you need to consider when starting a GIS project using MapInfo Professional? This session is geared to users who don't have experience with GIS and have to complete a mapping project.

Topics will include:

  • Data sources
  • Storing data
  • Getting on the map
  • Output, and publishing considerations

2. Applying Cartographic Techniques

Should you spend more time working on labels or choosing appropriate colors for your map? Are you able to get great data and analysis out of your MapInfo products but struggle because the electronic output doesn't look the way you want it?

In this fast paced workshop, we'll give you the tools and techniques to make your maps more effective and look great too.

We’ll give you the top 10 things you can do to make your maps look great.
What techniques you can use to get the most out of your maps and much more!


3. MapBasic 1: Learning the Basic's of MapBasic

8:30 am - 5:30 pm

This session will give you a quick start to ways in which you can make MapBasic work for you. Learn how to alter the menus in MapInfo Professional to match your users' needs. Learn how to capture code using the MapBasic window and then save it into program so that a repetitive task can be automated, or a complex task can be recorded so that any user can repeat it.


4. MapBasic 2: Beyond the Basics of MapBasic

In this session, we'll cover more programming techniques and functions unique to MapBasic. Topics to be covered include:

  • Flow Control
  • Access Data
  • Create Thematic Maps
  • Use SQL

5. MapInfo Professional 1: Getting Started with MapInfo Professional

8:30 am - 12:30 pm

This session will teach you the fundamentals of MapInfo Professional using hands-on exercises to build maps and visualize data on them. Upon completion of the course, you will have the skills necessary to be able to start using MapInfo Professional for your own business needs. In this session, you will:
  • Learn MapInfo Fundamentals
  • Open Data
  • View Data
  • Analyze Data
  • Prepare to Print Data

6. MapInfo Professional 2: Digging Deeper into MapInfo Professional

1:30 pm - 5:30 pm

In this hands-on session we'll dig deeper into MapInfo Professional and uncover more of its analytical, display, and object creating/editing features.

Topics will include:
  • Thematic Mapping
  • Using Joins
  • Constructing queries using SQL
  • Using formatting and geographic functions
  • Building your own geographies and editing them
  • Constructing and editing regions and linear features
  • Manual Geocoding
  • Data Management / Cleaning Techniques

7. Free Bonus Seminar: Accessing and Utilizing Satellite and Aerial Imagery in MapInfo Software
